Tone & Balance – Photography Exhibition

I’m pleased to announce that my latest photography exhibition will open next month on 4th July in central Brighton. The exhibition is titled “To have found shelter in daydreams” and I will be showing my work with seven other photographers. The group show is being installed at the University of Brighton’s Grand Parade building.

My ‘Tone & Balance’ project is a collection of character studio portraits of musicians which are captured in black and white. My images explore a diverse and unique group of musicians with honorific portraits and close-up studies revealing the nature of the featured musicians. ‘Tone & Balance’ are terms widely used in the world of music and these terms are also used in photography.

To complement my portrait collection is a series of close-up studies of the musician’s hands. The musician’s hands are the bridge between the person and the sound generated from their instrument of choice. These close-up studies illustrate the tactile nature of the individual musician and their instrument. The musician’s hands were captured as they played live in the studio during the photographic sessions.

The exhibition is open from 4th to 11th July and it’s free entry, the building is easy to find in central Brighton at BN2 9QB.

You can see more portraits and images from this project on my Tone & Balance page. If you’re interested in a custom portrait photographic session get in touch to start the discussion on your project.
