Tone & Balance

Tone & Balance is an on-going series of studio portraits of musicians captured in Brighton, Hove and Worthing over the spring and summer 2026. These solo portraits aim to capture the character of the musicians in a darkened studio setting using portable flash lighting.

Another aspect of this photographic project is to take close-up images of the musician’s hands as I find the tactile nature and the interesting instuments a strong visual combination. Musicians typically spend many hours honing their craft to both improve and to express their creativity, this protraiture series goes some way to honouring this dedication.
