Studio character portraits
Tone & Balance is an on-going series of studio portraits featuring musicians captured in Brighton, Hove and Worthing starting in spring of 2026. These solo portraits aim to capture the character of the musicians in a darkened studio setting using portable flash lighting on-location.
Another aspect of this photographic project is taking close-up images of the musician’s hands as I find the tactile nature and the interesting instuments a strong visual combination. Musicians typically spend many hours honing their craft to improve and to express their individual creativity. This portraiture series goes some way to honouring the dedication that musicians devote to their craft.
