Freelance Senior Product Designer
I have nineteen years of professional product design industry experience which I bring to my UX/UI design projects. My product design work covers all areas of the user focused design process including design concepts, user flows, journey mapping, wireframes, Figma prototypes and user testing.
My Design Process
Following requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement to establish business goals and user flows wireframes are produced to begin the design process. I then work in close collaboration with development and test teams to produce early designs which can be quickly adapted to create interactive Figma prototypes.
An iterative design process is used to build high fidelity Figma prototypes which can then be usability tested with end-users for further feedback. I create responsive designs to work across platforms and devices to produce inclusive, accessible and usable software solutions for digital products.
I work with you, your design team and clients to design, produce, launch and iterate effective design solutions that match your user, business and system requirements.
Design Leadership
I have product design team lead experience working across multiple projects in an agile environment. I work with remote, in-house and external design teams using Miro and online tools for cross team collaboration and ideation sessions.
I have worked with design and marketing teams throughout my career and I always strive to bring teams together with close collaboration. My design team management experience includes junior designer mentoring, coaching and line management.
I also have design recruitment experience should you need to build or expand your design team. My lead and senior designer professional experience also includes design workshop creation and delivery along with product design concept presentations.
Design Systems
I’m experienced in creating, implementing and managing design systems and style guides working with marketing and development teams to produce a consistent brand look and feel. Reusable design components and design patterns aid efficient product production and give a consistent user experience for customers.
My design system component production and management includes building a design system from scratch. I’ve also authored design system governance documentation for cross team and company-wide use.
I’ve authored brand guidelines to refresh design across platforms for group websites and apps. Writing style guides to bring brand design to a formal and usable guide that can go on to form the basis for a new design system.
Design systems can help to speed the process of global brand implementation and styling changes across multiple websites quickly and effectively.
Accessibility
I advocate accessibility and usability to increase user engagement, I work with development and test teams to realise successful UX strategy. My design work adheres to WCAG standards for accessibility, I’ve worked with clients and companies to improve their website and app accessibility.
I also offer UI/UX design audits to improve your website and app user experience, this includes accessibilty reviews and reports. The resulting design improvements in turn helps to increase your user engagement and conversions with your target audience.
Part of an accessibility review is to improve your brand and online presence to keep your digital products fresh. I’ve worked on company re-branding and production brand implementation projects to create a refreshed, strong and consistent online brand.
User Testing
My user testing experience includes writing interview scripts and running user testing sessions with candidates. The user focused journey intergrates with early wireframes which can be used to gather inital internal and external early feedback. I believe that user early testing is important and a crucial step in the iterative design process.
Then refined, high fidelity production prototypes can be used for more formal user testing sessions with external candidates. On completion of these sessions user data is collation and a report is released for presentation with stakeholder and team feedback sessions.
User tested prototypes can then be handed to development teams as final designs that can be built into fully responsive websites and native apps. I believe that real end-user feedback is one of the most important elements in the product design lifecycle.

WordPress Web Design
I have strong experience in WordPress design and development having worked on a wide range of websites using WordPress CMS. I’ve worked with WordPress from the early days and I still enjoy working with this website system. My design career has given me experience with WordPress design and build which includes custom themes with hand coded html and css.
I use my advanced WordPress skills to create custome branded, user friendly, responsive websites for clients and SMEs. I also have experience using other custom CMS systems for website and app content management.
I also offer WordPress support for clients who would like a custom WordPress design and content creation service.
